Here are the custom apparel trend for 2020. This year we are seeing a few recurring trends, but there are also something new we’ve noticed here. As a marketing or promotional manager, it makes sense to incorporate the latest trend into your marketing apparel to stay current, and to create conversation and increase social media presence. Here are a few trends that we rounded up:
Athleisure is an everyday garment for casual [usage], leisure and lounging, outdoors and more. Consumers are looking for versatile clothing for the workplace, team or fan gear, and promotional wear. In comparison to a basic cotton tee, the features of athleisure allow the wearer to control where and how they want to wear it. Brands like Ogio have collections of casual performancewear that is just for that.
The pandemic has also changed the way people dress for work. Since many workers are working from home, most prefer to transition seamlessly from home to office. Athleisure is becoming a big trend for company apparel. It also gives people a sense of company loyalty, teamwork while wearing branded athleisure while working from home.
“We have redefined what we consider athleisure , as we now look for performance features in lifestyle apparel,” says Marcus Davis, production development manager for HanesBrands. “For example, you want to stay dry and cool at the gym but also at the office, running errands or [when you’re] out with friends. When you are at the office, you don’t want a wet, wrinkled shirt; you don’t want to have to worry about odor. We want everyday apparel to have the same features once valued only in athleisure .”
Zoom wear is a 2020 term. According to the New York Times, most people have one or two go-to shirts and they are their “Zoom shirts”. It can be a button shirt, or a polo. A zoom shirt is usually wrinkle-free and it washes well. It is also kept around the office, near the place whether people have their zoom calls. Whether labeled as “eco-friendly,” “ethical,” “sustainable” or “green,” brands can boost their reputation by selling products identified by these descriptions. These products offer a feel-good sense of ownership for the buyer, as by opting for greener brands, consumers are also contributing to the betterment of the environment.
Brands willing to explore greener options will also experience benefits. According to the Green Business Bureau, brands engaging in ethical practices will likely have an overall lower carbon footprint, reduced shipping costs due to lighter package weights and an overall growth in their consumer pool. According to Green Strategy, there are seven categories of sustainable. Like the Alternative Apparel Eco Crew Tee, contains organic and recycled material, while maintaining soft feel and retail fit, is a great example.
The trade war is probably on a lot of business minds these days, buying American is a viable options because the costs will be predictable and it gives a sense of support to our local American economy. Many brands such as American Apparel, Bella Canvas have special styles that are made in USA. Bayside is union made, and while Akwa produces high quality woven and golf apparel right in our backyard in suburban Los Angeles.
Adding a name, nickname or title is great way to make a garment a keepsake item. Embroidery, laser engrave or digital printing allows us to change up names or text for each garment.
Next Level ringer tee“People are falling back into classic items,” says Marcus Davis, product development manager for Hanesbrands. “Rather than disposable, trendy tees, [today’s] consumers are looking for classic, retro styles. A vintage look and feel, stripes and garment-dyed [styles] — consumers want classic.” Ringer tees from Next Level, Nano tees from Hanesbrand are all carrying the same message.
When we are talking about the retro look can we please talk about the Fanny pack? Not long ago, fanny packs were about as uncool as they could get – the crowning style fail for a bungling tourist wearing shorts with socks pulled up to the knee. But that’s all changed. Fanny packs have been popping up on high-fashion runways and are a hit with younger demographics. Even Elle magazine declared, “We can deny it no longer: the fanny pack is here to stay. No matter your aesthetic, there’s a hip-slung bag for you.” Fanny packs will do well as swag for concerts and festivals. Think colleges and trade show giveaways, too.
